9:00 am - 10:30 am
Licking County Library, 101 W Main St., Newark, Ohio

Whether creating an inclusive registration form, respectfully addressing someone we meet at a conference, or adding pronouns to an email signature, aspects of gender identity have become an ever-increasing part of our personal and professional communication.

In a session led by Lane Shirrell, Community Education & Research Manager at Kaleidoscope Youth Center, we will learn about the complexity of gender, including:

  • Gender identity
  • Gender expression
  • Sex assigned at birth
  • Distinctions between gender and sexuality
  • The LGBTQIA+ acronym
  • Use of personal gender pronouns
  • Alternatives to using gendered language

As Ohio’s largest and longest serving organization solely dedicated to supporting LGBTQIA+ youth, KYC will lead us through a learning session and conversation on this aspect of creating a more inclusive environment.

Presenter: Lane Shirrell, Community Education & Research Manager, Kaleidoscope Youth Center (KYC)
