Whether creating an inclusive registration form, respectfully addressing someone we meet at a conference, or adding pronouns to an email signature, aspects of gender identity have become an ever-increasing part of our personal and professional communication.

In a session led by Lane Shirrell, Community Education & Research Manager at Kaleidoscope Youth Center in Columbus, we will learn about the complexity of gender, including:

Gender identity
Gender expression
Sex assigned at birth
Distinctions between gender and sexuality
The LGBTQIA+ acronym
Use of personal gender pronouns, and
Alternatives to using gendered language

As Ohio’s largest and longest serving organization solely dedicated to supporting LGBTQIA+ youth, KYC will lead us through a learning session and conversation on this aspect of creating a more inclusive environment.
