Licking County Foundation Scholarships Start with Caring Donors
Posted on 01/18/2021
For decades, Licking County residents, organizations and even businesses have combined their interests with helping young people thrive by establishing scholarship funds at the Licking County Foundation. From now through February 26, 2021, local students have the opportunity to apply to find out whether they are eligible for one or more of the 70+ scholarships that will be offered for the 2021-22 academic year.
Scholarships provide a charitable outlet for donors who wish to further their commitment to a cause, remember or honor a special person, or hope to spark pursuit of a particular career or area of study. Scholarships have been used to recognize students with particular academic or extracurricular achievement or dedicated volunteer service, or celebrate their unique talents.
Scholarships are as diverse and varied as donors’ wishes! New scholarships to be offered in 2021 include the Herbert J. Murphy Building Trades Scholarship Fund for students interested in skilled construction trades, the Beth Barton Eckels Memorial Scholarship for women pursuing careers in cosmetology, art, or fashion design; the Noble and Kathleen Snow Scholarship Fund for Newark High School graduating seniors pursuing degrees in law enforcement, nursing or education; and the Licking NAACP Scholarship Fund to support Licking County students who are Black, Indigenous, or other People of Color (BIPOC).
Thanks to donors with wide ranging interests and the vision to create a lasting legacy that will help young people succeed, Licking County Foundation is able annually to offer more than $1 million in scholarship support.
