NEW FUNDS

Licking County Foundation’s donors come from every walk of life…every generation…and their interests are as varied as the people they wish to serve. Yet each of our donors has something in common—an unmistakable desire to improve their community. We are truly grateful to the individuals, families and organizations that have recently established these charitable funds:

2011

Jerrie Mock Aviation Pioneer Sculpture Fund
An agency project fund, established by Susan Reid and Bill Kelley, to raise funds for erecting a sculpture that celebrates the first solo flight around the world in 1964 by a woman named Jerrie Mock who is also a Newark native. Created by local sculptor Renate Burgyan-Fackler, this bronze sculpture will be a permanent fixture in the LeFevre Courtyard located at The Works: Center for History, Art & Technology for the enjoyment of more than 60,000 visitors annually.

Lakewood Education Foundation Fund
A donor advised fund, established by the Lakewood Education Foundation Committee, to support early college readiness and college access programs or resources for Lakewood Local School District students.

Lakewood Education Foundation Scholarship Fund
A scholarship fund, established by the Lakewood Education Foundation Committee, to grant last-dollar or general scholarship awards to assist Lakewood High School graduating seniors who want to further their studies at an accredited college or university.

Licking County Animal Shelter Spay/Neuter Fund
An agency fund, established by the Licking County Commissioners, to make grants to qualified charitable organizations to enhance spay/neuter services for dogs and cats adoped from the Licking County Animal Shelter to reduce pet overpopulation in Lickign County.

Newark-Granville Symphony Orchestra Endowment Fund
An agency endowment fund, established by the board of the Newark-Granville Symphony Orchestra, to provide an ongoing source of income for operations and programs.

Wayne L. Roelof Memorial Endowment Fund
An unrestricted fund, established through a legacy gift from the estate of Wayne L. Roelof who was well-known for his kindness and respect for others as the owner and manager of Main Hardware in downtown Newark for over 50 years, to meet the ever-changing needs of our community.

Weathervane Playhouse Endowment Fund
An agency endowment fund, established by the board of the Weathervane Playhouse, to provide an ongoing source of income for operations and programs.

Weathervane Playhouse Matthew Trombetta Theater Arts Building Agency Project Fund
An agency project fund, established by the board of the Weathervane Playhouse, to support the construction of the Matthew Trombetta Theater Arts Building.

YES Clubhouse Expansion Fund
An agency project fund, established by community supporters, to construct an addition that doubles the size of the current building in 2011.

2010

Jeff and Jane Cox Family Fund
A donor advised fund, established by Jeff and Jane Cox, to support the charitable organizations and causes the Cox family cares about most.

Dawes Arboretum Endowment Fund
An agency endowment fund, established by the board of Dawes Arboretum, to support programs that increase the love and knowledge of trees, history and the natural world.

Dick and Clara Francis Scholarship Fund
A scholarship fund, established through a legacy gift from the estate of Clara Francis, whose life was spent operating Francis Industries and traveling all over the world, to provide scholarships to graduating seniors from Licking County high schools who demonstrate financial need, and plan to further their studies at an accredited college, university, technical school or other post secondary institution.

GTW Fund
A community charitable fund, established by an anonymous donor, to support equipment for and activities at the Lou and Gib Reese Ice Arena and the Newark Sports and Event Commission.

Patti Guanciale Fund
A designated agency fund, established by Dan Guanciale in honor of his wife Patti Guanciale who loved books and was an avid reader, to provide permanent, continuous support to the library at Newark Catholic High School.

Paddy K. Kutz Community Mental Health Endowment Fund
An agency endowment fund, established by the board of Mental Health America of Licking County, to support the Paddy K. Kutz Community Mental Health Award program which recognizes effective mental health promotion and education in the areas of education, business and community with three awards annually.

McCray Family Scholarship Fund
A scholarship fund, established by brothers Nelson and Thomas McCray, to assist graduating seniors from Licking Heights High School who demonstrate financial need, have achieved a 2.0 GPA, and plan to further their studies in education or agricultural science at an accredited college or university.

Miller Elementary School PTO and Thelma Bounds Scholarship Fund
A scholarship fund, established by the Parent Teacher Organization of the William E. Miller Elementary School in Newark which closed in 2009, to support graduating seniors who attended Miller Elementary School and want to pursue a post-secondary education.
