In addition to beautifying downtown Newark, Foundation Park serves as the front yard of the Licking County Foundation's office.

The Park was constructed on the site of the former Auditorium Theater off of Newark’s Courthouse Square. The Theater was built in 1884 as a memorial building to honor those from Licking County who died in the Civil War. “The Patriots” sculpture is a fitting addition to Foundation Park because it celebrates our nation’s heritage and serves as a tribute to all Licking County citizens who take pride in our community and our nation.

Foundation Park was created to give citizens a quiet, beautiful refuge
in the heart of Newark. It bridges generations and honors those who have served in the past and represents a tangible recognition of the many dedicated people and organizations whose generosity continues to make a difference in our quality of life.

Special thanks to the many organizations in our community who made Foundation Park possible.
